New member’s ride for both Birmingham and Wolfruna chapters
Time | Destination | Venue
For the past few years, Barry James has held an open day at his company’s premises in Needwood. We have taken a ride there from Birmingham to support Barry and to give members a nice easy ride, with hot cooked breakfast food on arrival. The main theme of the open day is model railways, with lots to see...
As this event clashes with Jake’s toy run which Birmingham Chapter also support with Oxford. I am therefore branding this year’s ride as a new member’s ride for both Birmingham and Wolfruna. The route will be all A and B roads with no motorways and nothing more than 60mph. Though I do like to keep the pace brisk and ride at the speed limits if the road conditions permit. Ie. 40mph in a 40 limit, 50 in a 50 etc, whilst keeping a tight group.
For those coming from Wolfruna, the first meet point will be the Old Irish Harp car park in Aldridge at the junction of the A452 and A454. Post code WS9 0LP. I will leave here at 9.15am. The ride briefing will take place at the next stop.
The next pick up will be at McDonalds on Chester road by the Tyburn House Pub in Castle Bromwich. Post code B24 0QY. Leaving at approx 10.30am.
After the ride briefing and sign on, we will continue on Chester road and under the M6 . We’ll take the Chelmsley wood bypass ( collector road ) to Coleshill and continue on to Furnace End. From Furnace End, we’ll head to Atherstone and then on to Twycross.
At the junction of the A444 and M42/A42, we’ll take the B5493 towards Tamworth. We’ll then take a right to join up with the A513, crossing the A38. At Kings Bromley, we’ll pick up the A515 and then at the junction with the B5234, we’ll turn right towards Burton.
Our destination will be a short distance on our left, making an easy turn in. We should arrive around 11.30am to Midday. The parking is on paved ground.
Protocol / Fuel / Distance.
Please arrive with sufficient fuel for 50 miles after we leave McDonalds. There is a petrol station close to Barry’s place where you can fill up to ride home. I will be doing second man drop off, but also pulling over occasionally to regroup. If anyone is riding a Sportster with a peanut tank, we can do a quick fuel stop at Sainsbury’s before Spitfire island, just for those who need to top up.
From Barry’s place, it’s an easy ride back to Lichfield.
If you need any more info, please text, call or e-mail me.
Hope to see you on April 19th.
