Ride to Halfpenny Green Airport
Time | Destination | Venue
First ride out of the season sees a visit to the Navigator Café at WolverhamptonHalfpenny Green airport http://www.navigatorcafe.co.uk/
As it’s early in the riding season, the ride is weather dependent.
In order to maximise the chances of the ride going ahead if the forecast is variable, the route has been chosen to use as many scenic A roads as possible. The most likely current route is available to download in pdf format for those who like to know where they’re going (bear in mind this is often a novelty for the Road Crew) however please note this may change on the day due to road conditions and external influences, including memory loss!
Starting Point is Hopwood Services on Junction 2 of M42 (B48 7AU) and we will be leaving at 10:00 prompt, with full tanks of fuel and empty bladders -arriving at the Navigator Café at around 11:15.
The route is approx. 30 miles long, so there will be no planned petrol stops. The Café can seat about 40 people and we have 20 spaces reserved. In order to minimise any delays in serving the food, which is freshly prepared, we have been asked to forward an indication of peoples’ menu choices in advance – please add your choice to the menu log here before Thursday 14thMarch 2019.
We will probably stop at the cafe for about an hour and half depending on service times.
The return journey will now involve a stop at the Fig & Favour Pub, 103 Kidderminster Road South, Hagley, Stourbridge, DY9 0JL which will allow refuel at the adjacent petrol station and then options for onward travel home of:
M5 at Quinton
M5 at Lydiate Ash
M42 at Lickey End
A38 to Rubery or Bromsgrove at Lickey End
Road Crew: Nigel Babb & Ian Brannon (both experts in the local language!)
